Deepavali

传说古时候，印度有个凶残的国王。这个国王很喜欢杀人，使许多老百姓的生活十分痛苦。当时老百姓不知如何反抗他，只好向天神求救。天神知道人间有这么一个可恶的国王，便派了一名勇士把国王杀掉。国王死了，人们非常高兴，便点着火把开始手舞足蹈，热烈地欢庆，这就是屠妖节的来源。为此，每年的屠妖节，印度同胞把家里打扫得干干净净，并点上油灯庆祝，感谢天神除掉可恶的国王。油灯为人们带来了光明，因此屠妖节也称为灯节.

Bumblebee Bat

Bumblebee Bat ( Kitti's hog-nosed bat ) is the world's smallest bat and possibly the world's smallest mammal. It is about 30-40 milimeteres long and weighs approximately 2 grams, there are two types, one which has reddish-brown upperparts while the other has greyish upperparts. It was founded by Kitti and has a pig-like snout which gives it the rather unusual name.

Sucker-footed bat

Sucker-footed bat, this bat has suckers on its legs which it uses to climb the large broad leaves of the plant where it roosts. This special bat is found on the island of Madagascar by accident.

Sloths

Sloths live upside down for most of their lives, they also have a low rate of metabolism which help them fight off illnesses. Although they are herbivours, some species have a mean streak and are quick to bite with their teeth. These unusual creatures live in the forests of America.

Narwhals

Narwhals have a long tusk sprouting from the top of their head, these may be sensory organs, used for showmanship or dectecting pressure. These whales are one of the two species of white whales and are rarely seen.

Hagfish

Hagfish are able to secrete enough slime to turn a large bucketful of water into a large bucketful of gel in just a few minutes. Hagfish have eel-like bodies and paddle-like tails, they do not have eyes, fins or jaws. It has six barbels around its mouth and a single nostril. Colour depends on the type of species.

Blobfish

The Blobfish has a blob like appearance and is very ugly. This fish has a flesh that is made of a density slightly less than water, allowing it to float above the seabed. Another interesting thing about this creature is that it does not have muscles as it does not need them.

I was born on the sixth of June, 1996 in Mount Elizabeth Hospital. Soon, in December 1996, I learnt to talk and walk. During that time, my mother and my maternal grandmother looked after me. In 1997, in June, I went to Tokyo, it was my first time seeing real snow so it was a memorable experiance. During the stay there, I also went to Disneyland.

In 2000, I went to my first nursery school, my classmates there were very nice and the teacher was very friendly. In K2, 2001 I went to St. James Kindergarten, I spent my next year there too. When I was studying there, I recieved two good conduct awards, one for nursery and one for K1

In 2003, I went to primary school (HPPS), in that time, teachers were very mean and I had to pull my ears for about 30 minutes before I could sit down again ( I was very naughty). I also cried as I could not get used to primary school life. In 2004, I got a nicer teacher, but this year is most memorable as I peed in my pants! In 2005 ( P3) I got a nice teacher again but I did not like her as she scolded me for making S cry. In 2006 ( P4) it was my favourite year as I had nice teachers, good friends and did well in my exams. In 2006, I was involved in a ball matter in school and got scolded. In 2007, I went up to stage for the first time, I also got a role model badge.

Elizabeth Choy is a brave woman who has died a few years ago, she kept quiet about the anti-Japanese group which had help prisoners escape, shot down Japanese soldiers and smuggled weapons to other anti-Japanese groups. Even though she was whipped, beaten and even electrocuted, she did not yield and kept mum for 193 days, sharing a small cold cell with 20 other male prisoners. We should follow Elizabeth Choy and be preseverance, brave and strong in times of trouble.
